History of Boise Art Museum
The history of the Boise Art Museum is interesting. In 1961, the museum was incorporated as Boise Gallery of Art. It was started as a non-profit organization with two galleries and a small lobby space. The Art Deco edifice stood on a 3000 sq. feet land. The structure of the building was beautiful. Indeed, it initiated in the year 1931 as the Boise Art Association by the people of Idaho. A group of around thirty people was eager to promote art and culture in the city of Boise and they proposed the idea of starting an organization that would be dedicated to fine art and its promotion.
