Collections of the Knoxville Museum of Art

There are some permanent collections of the museum known as ‘From East Tennessee and Beyond’. These collections are installed in the lobby of the museum. It highlights the exquisite artwork done by the local and regional artists of the Tennessee. Besides, there are other collections, too, from the various national and international artists. It includes figures such as Catherine Wiley, an eminent American Impressionist of the early 20th century and Joseph Delaney, an African-American artist.

Besides there are paintings by the members of the museum called ‘Knoxville Seven’. These reflect the modern and contemporary art style to the eastern part of Tennessee. Recent works include works of Alison Moritsugu, Tomory Dodge, Carolyn Plochmann, Stuart Netsky, William Wiley and many others. There are also special exhibitions that include light-sensitive works on paper. These are displayed in the KMA galleries on a rotational basis and the level of the light is much more controlled, especially for these exhibitions.
