Long Beach Museum of Art



The Long Beach Museum of Art is situated on Ocean Boulevard in Bluff Park, Long Beach California. The museum is housed in the Elizabeth Milbank Anderson house and carriage house. The museum hours are from 11a.m. to 5p.m. Tuesday to Sunday. The Long Beach Museum of Art has free admissions on Fridays.

Introduction to the Long Beach Museum of Art:

The location of the Long Beach Museum of Art is on a fabulous site overlooking the Long Beach Harbor and the ocean. The historic site of the museum is the Elizabeth Milbank Anderson house with the carriage house. The property includes oceanfront gardens and two floors of gallery space in a new pavilion. The expansive space in the gallery is used for changing exhibitions. The buildings house several administrative offices, the Museum store and cafe. The Long Beach Museum of Art offers educational programs for children and adults, musical programs, festivals as well as other events.



Collections at the Long Beach Museum of Art:

The permanent collection at the Long Beach Museum of Art consists of around 5000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, paper works and decorative arts objects. The highlight of the collection is an assembly of 3000 artists' videos. Other prominent features of the museum's display include American decorative arts objects, 20th century European art, California modernism and contemporary Californian art.

The Long Beach Museum of Art has a tradition of presenting a diverse range of views and attitudes about Long Beach City as well as the art works by artists of Long Beach. The museum organizes events like dancing, storytelling, music and programs like arts and crafts classes for bringing the community together. The admission rates are $7 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Museum members and children below 12 years of age are granted free admission.
