Open Canvas

Open canvas popularly called as oc is an art program used in the Microsoft windows. Open canvas is more popular among the Japanese digital artists. Open canvas was created by a company called as Portal graphics. After its creation the open canvas was released as freeware. Open canvas is more popular for its use of an exceptional blending style taken from Adobe Photoshop and Corel painter. The open canvas is created specially for using with pressure sensitive drawing tablets like the very famous Wacom's digitizing tablets. From bottom to up this is designed as a sketch program and not like a graphic design program.

Open canvas does not compete in larger markets and lacks many of the graphic designs. The reason behind this could be lack of graphic design features such as the Adobe Photoshop. Despite its less popularity in the commercial market, it is largely followed by many in the field of multimedia and flash works.Up until the last free version, 1.1-b72, open Canvas also included network support, which allowed many artists to collaborate in real-time over the internet, using different layers of the same drawing.

This feature was removed with the release of version 2 open canvas. Open Canvas v4.5.07 is currently available in two different versions such as English and Japanese. By open canvas you can not only draw the image but also learn and exchange fresh ideas.

An open canvas features a rich brush menu which includes different drawing tools required in the artistic creative process such as markers, pencils, watercolors, oil color, pastel. Some specially created tools are also available in an open canvas such as "Spread" or "Fingertip". You can say an open canvas is something that lets you experiment with traditional painting while enjoying the computer design advantages. Here you get a clean and stain free working area, inexpensive drawing tools and a fresh canvas each time you press Ctrl+N.
