Drawing

Drawing is a visual art which involves making of a two-dimensional figure, image or shape on a surface preferably paper, using any tool. The various tools of drawing may include graphite pencils, pen and ink, inked brushes, wax color pencils, crayons, charcoals, pastels, markers, stylus, or various metals like silverpoint. Draftsman or Draughtsman is the person who does drawing proficiently.

Difference Between Drawing and Painting There is clear-cut difference between drawing and painting. It’s mainly because of the same tools that are used for painting and drawing the

confusion arises. But there is difference in the operation of both visual arts. A layering of pigments by a brush on a cloth or a prepared surface is what done in painting while in drawing dark lines are drawn on the surface of paper. There is a difference in the process of drawing and painting too. In drawing, a healthy emphasis is given on composition, observation and problem solving. This is often considered exploratory too. On the other hand, traditional painting involves execution or finishing of an artwork once completed.
