Bill Ewing is a portrait artist and fine art painter. He is one of America's foremost portrait artists. His portraits specialized in oil paintings of still life, figures, and landscapes. He is well-known for his classic style of painting today's subjects.
He was born as William O. Ewing III in south-eastern Pennsylvania at the end of World War II. From his young age he showed a keen interest in painting. For a year of post-graduate studies he enrolled himself with Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. His genuine interest in arts made him research on the paintings of Rembrandt and Rubins. This research led to lot of rediscoveries and refinement in the medium of painting.
All his paintings are done with oil paint on canvas or wooden panels. For his portraits he uses live models and figures. Personal items and props are also included in the frame. The backgrounds and props were painted in the absence of the subject. The preference for live-model painting sessions has always produced the best and finest in his artistic works. He prefers daylight hours to complete his composition so that he can minutely sketch all the details and intricacies.
Why Two Kay, Captain's Table, Sunday Brunch, Hunt Cup, Federal Judge Joe Longobardi and ‘Self Portrait' are some of the famous oil paintings in his gallery. He used oil as his painting medium because of its utmost durability. He preferred it as his medium since it is lightweight and resistant to atmospheric and humidity changes. Bill Ewing's images are available in full size or as miniature fine-quality reproduction.
