Christine Ellis

Acrylic paintings gained popularity from the mid-20 th century after acrylic paints became commercially available from 1950 onwards. Since then it has been a popular media for painters. Christine Ellis is a contemporary painter who presently resides in the Bay Area, Northern California.

Christine Ellis was born in the Midwest region. She is more of a self-taught artist and has been interested in painting ever since her childhood. She finds creating images as very relaxing and loves the idea that she can actually see the fruits of her work. Christine Ellis uses pastels, acrylics, watercolors and colored pencils(link pencils) to make excellent figurative abstracts(link to abstract paintings).

She feels that “any art form is something that we all can reach out to and touch and/or touched by”. According to Christine Ellis, the way a person perceives things and situations depends on his genes, their life experiences and a willingness to adapt themselves to new ideas. She uses very bright and rich colors in her abstract paintings.

Christine Ellis has started exhibiting her works quite recently. She has realized that any creation has a life outside the motivations of the artist, that has led to its creation and so this experience of creation should be shared with others. Her recent exhibitions have been held at CaSaj Art Gallery and Bay Area Black Artists Exhibition. Some of the well-known works of Christine Ellis include Grapes in the Garden, Lessons for Rose, Dinner for Three, Goodness in the Soul, heart Felt Moments and Glory and Goodness in the Spirit. She has also given few lectures on various occasions. There is a virtual gallery where one can browse through the works of Christine Ellis.
