Dalia Elkana

Dalia Elkana has spent near about thirty-five years of his life in intensive painting. While doing painting for years, he learned different aspects and faces of painting as a profession. And through painting, he could fulfill various changing needs of his life. Watercolor and oil paintings is the two mediums of painting for Dalia Elkana

During the past of couple of years, painting served Dalia as the only means to express his feelings and experiences. He quite often shifted his platform from the external world to internal, from the surrounding world to the subconscious world and then back to the external world again. This depicted the theme of existentialism in his paintings—related to his experiences.

Presently too, Dalia Elkana continues to paint his feelings, life and thoughts in his paintings. Dalia is not much of a planned and organized painter. He paints from his subconscious mind without doing any groundwork for his paintings. He does not decide upon the theme, subject and color of the painting, nether does he know what his painting will look like after it is done.

Dalia Elkana is related to different schools of fantastic realism, symbolism, surrealism and realism. The painting technique extensively used by Dalia is transparent glazing that involves wide brush strokes, collage and layer over layer painting. Thus, we see that hailing from Jerusalem, Dalia is an eminent artist and painter. Some of the oil paintings of Dalia Elkana include:

•  Untitled, 2001 (fantasy theme based)

•  Untitled, 1999 (fantasy theme based)
