Hugh O' Mara is a present-day artist who lives in West Hollywood, California. He has been creating artworks since 1974. He works in a variety of styles and media. His approach to art is “ symbolism and surrealism meets folk art and some other things ” – A lot of things , anything and everything. Apart from oil painting he also uses charcoal, ink and pen as his mediums of paintings. Hugh O' Mara mainly does oil paintings on canvas. The themes of his paintings are landscape, still life, animals, abstract and others. He uses very bright colors in most of his paintings. Hugh O' Mara has participated in many exhibitions and he works on commission as well.
Some of the projects he is currently working on are Quito 1600, Hirado Civilization, The Birth of Civilization, The emissaries, The Conquest of Reality, Beyonder, The Golden Ass and others.All these projects are based on various ideas like adventures in the afterlife, an ancient tale of sex, bestiality and magic, concerning God, travel and tourism and other varied ideas.
