Hunter O' Reilly is a modern-day artist who mainly does oil painting and presently lives in Wisconsin, US. She is a renowned artist as well as an experienced geneticist. She reinterprets science as art through abstractions, digital art and installations. She holds a Ph. D and Master's Degree in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Science from the University of California- Berkley. Hunter O' Reilly teaches biology and art at Loyola University, Chicago.
Dr. O'Reilly has been awarded grants from the Puffin Foundation, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Fisher Scientific for the creation of Radioactive Biohazard , an exhibit reinterpreting science as art looking at biotechnology from a positive perspective. This was shown at the Walker's Point Center for the Arts 2001 and at other shows. Her recent drawings created with bioluminescent bacteria, Living Drawings was also exhibited at different universities. Hunter O' Reilly's Abstract Faces series of paintings was exhibited at New York, San Francisco, Italy, Japan, England and the Czech Republic. She has received many awards and grants for her works.

Hunter O' Reilly has participated in many solo and group exhibitions. Her works are kept as collections at places like Utah, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and others. She has been the guest lecturer in various universities and spoke about the fusion of art and science in her speeches. Some of her renowned oil paintings are Adaptation in Atlantis, Midnight Eyes, Queen Nefertiti and DNA is Everywhere DNA Fingerprinting I.
