Jeff East

Jeff East is a contemporary artist living in the Wheat's Valley region of Bedford County, VA in United States. Jeff East is a native of Virginia. He has been working in the Roanoke area since 1985. Jeff East studied in Lynchburg VA under the guidance of painters Roger Elliot and John Black. During his study in Lynchburg, Jeff East developed his skills in drafting and painting in watercolors and oils. In 1987 Jeff East graduated from college and shifted to the study of printmaking techniques wit well known serigraphers Gemi Hur and Ed Bordett. Working as an assistant to Ed Bordett, Jeff East honed his talents as a printmaker and worked on projects for artists such as Gary Arseneau, David Cochran and visionary folk artist Howard Finster. Jeff East developed several limited edition prints for Howard Finster

Jeff East is an ardent hiker and photographer. The best ideas for the art works of Jeff East are got when he is alone in the wilderness. Jeff East spends a lot of time photographing and sketching on his hiking trips. These raw ideas are then developed in the studio of Jeff East. Jeff East works in several mediums, which has enabled him to gain a better vision of his natural environment and an understanding of the way in which his pieces would develop and grow. Jeff East attempts to recreate his deep feelings for the nature in his works.
