Hailing from the eastern region of Nigeria, Kanayo Ede is an established painter in America. After acquiring a BFA degree from the University of Maiduguri in
the ancient Kanem Bornu Empire, he went on to work as a designer, instructor and an illustrator in the western regions. He is a son of a fabric dealer. And probably this is the reason that he was highly influenced and inspired from the multihued textiles of Africa. He was spellbound by the magical colors of Dutch-wax fabrics that were imported from Holland by his father. From thereon, he wanted to play with colors and capture the hues of life on his small canvas. Indeed, the colors ands shapes of natural landscapes have inspired him a lot and have left a great impact on his intellect
He states that he loves to move the static things like trees, houses and clouds on his canvas. There is an array of beautiful art, paintings and stunning hand embellished giclee prints done by him. With bold strokes of color and paint, Kanayo's paintings are sure to leave us gasping for breath. Kanayo Ede brings warmth and flavor in his paintings that lingers for hours. We all know that people are born with creative talents. However, Kanayo believes that he was born with paintbrush in his hand!! There is a magical brilliance in his paintings that depict beautiful landscapes and soft blooms or flowers. These are emblazoned with deep thick colors.
