Acrylic painting is done with fast drying man-made polymers which have been in commercial use from the 1950's. Acrylic painting gained popularity from the mid-20 th century. Lisa Ernst is one of the modern-day exponents in this field. She presently lives in Tennessee. Lisa Ernst started painting and studying about art from the mid 90's after she left her position as CEO of a computer company in Nashville. She took training classes from the renowned artist Walter Bunn Gray and was quite serious about them. Lisa Ernst focused her studies and research mainly on floral and still life paintings and it has remained her forte. The theme of mortality or impermanency has been the most dominating and oft-repeated one. In most of the paintings of Lisa Ernst, she tries to capture the beauty of shortly lived things or beings like flowers, ripe fruits or a bunch of leaves lit by the sunrays.
She paints in a realistic style and tries to capture the details of both color and form. Although Lisa Ernst prefers detailed and accurate finishes yet she does not try to achieve a photo finish. She rather prefers to leave her individual touch on all her paintings and tries to depict her own interpretation of nature.
Lisa Ernst has exhibited her work in several group and solo shows in both galleries and various museums. She was featured in American Artists Magazine along with her paintings. The famous works of Lisa Ernst include Plums, Pomegranates, Apples on Table, Overlay, Canna Leaves II, River Birch II, Pink Canna, Fall Leaves, Tall River Birch, Trumpet Triptych, Trumpets, White Lily, White Orchids, White Cactus II, Parthenon II, White Night Flowers, Bromeliad, White Lotus and Two Yellow Blooms among many others. Her works are kept in corporate, private and public collections at various places. Lisa Ernst also works on commission and has made many special works for her clients.
