Mary Backer

From the childhood, Mary was never without pencil or crayon and paper to draw on. Coloring books were always a passion of Mary Backer . Watercolor is the most favorite medium of art for Mary Backer . She is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, and an Artist member of the California Art Club.

Her works represents her own point of view, interpretation and unique expression. Mary Backer finds inspiration in everything that surrounds her. She attempts to give the viewer a heightened awareness about their surroundings. People often miss the beauty around them and Mary Backer's works help them to see it more completely.

She was born in California and grew up in the Pasadena area. After high school graduation, Mary Backer married and grew two children. Although she entered in the Famous Artist's Course – a course of commercial art, the demands of growing a family prohibited her from continuing the course. For that reason she put aside her dreams of becoming an artist. Mary Backer's dream finally came true in the early 1980's. Now, she entered in the Laguna Beach School of Art, Laguna Beach, California. Her teacher, Roger Armstrong , boosted her to enter the National Watercolor Society annual competition . Here, Mary Backer's work was acknowledged into the exhibit and she received the honor of being juried into the organization as a Signature Member .

Mary Backer has won many awards and honors. You can find her works in museum, corporate and numerous private collections. Mary Backer has been published in many leading art publications. Such as,
