Philip John James O’ Sullivan



Philip John James O' Sullivan is a modern-day painter who presently lives in New Zealand. He is mainly involved in abstract paintings. He combines geometry with expression and does large abstract minimalist watercolors in acrylic and water media. He has done a degree from the Canterbury School of Fine Arts and has studied about film studies also.

The main subjects of his works are abstract expressionism, Contemporary oceanic art and Bauhas. Philip John James O' Sullivan uses very bright colors in his works. He has received many awards and special grants for his works like the QE II Arts Council, Creative Project Grant and the QE II Arts Council, Major Project Grant.



Philip John James O' Sullivan has also participated in solo and group exhibitions at various galleries and museums of Auckland and Wellington. He has been exhibiting since 1972. His first exhibition of abstract art was with Milan Mrkusich at New Vision Gallery, Auckland. His works along with his artistic statements have been published in various magazines.
