John Mallord William Turner [1775-1851] was a born genius whose entire life was dedicated to art. Unlike his contemporaries he enjoyed a successful career throughout his life. One of his rare paintings was exhibited at The Royal Gallery when he was only fifteen. His achievements got their due recognition when he was elected as an associate of the Royal Academy. He gave away all his fortune to promote the cause of ‘decaying artists’. It was he who laid the foundation of English watercolor landscape painting.
