Foundation and Development:
The Moore College of Art and Design was started in 1848 under the name Philadelphia School of Design for Women. The founder of this school was Sarah Peter. At that time the Philadelphia School of Design for Women was the only art and design college for women in the USA. It prepared women for working in the new industries set up due to the Industrial Revolution.
