Taipei National University of the Arts is located in Beitou District, Taipei City, Taiwan. It is a national university which provides higher learning courses in arts. The Taipei National University of the Arts was founded in the year 1982, with the idea of promoting new, modern Chinese arts based on the cultural heritage of China.
The institute was earlier located in Luchou, from 1985 to 1991 but then permanently shifted to the present campus in Kuandu. The buildings have been designed in the state-of-the art technology which displays a neo-Chinese classical style. The Institute was renamed in the year 2001 as Taipei National University of the Arts.
Courses and Degrees
The Taipei National University of the Arts offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in music, theater and fine arts. The different graduate program courses offered in the University are art history, music, dance, arts and technology, arts management, theatre- theory and playwriting, traditional arts, theatre- theory and playwriting. There are presently 900 students. The Taipei National University of the Arts organizes different art exhibitions and theatrical performances by the faculty members and students form time to time. These performances cover modern and traditional plays, ballet and modern dance, traditional and aboriginal dance, concerts and recitals using traditional Chinese, western and exotic instruments.
Objective
The Taipei National University of the Arts places a strong emphasis on the humanities and rigorous training in different ancient arts of China as well as Western arts. The Institute provides quality professional training with an emphasis on idea and technique, theory and practice.
Facilities
Apart from the different colleges and departments under it, the Taipei National University of the Arts also has Music Hall, the Performing Arts Center, a library, a computer center, the Center for the Study of Traditional Arts, the Center for the Study of Art and Technology. The festivals which are held at the Taipei National University of the Arts are Kuandu Arts Festival and the Kuandu Flower Festival.
